OutAdvisor was conceived in 2006 by a diverse team of avid travelers in the GLBT community. Our official launch was in Fall 2008 and we have been going strong ever since. Our goal is to be the #1 resource for travelers in the GLBT community worldwide for information and reviews of GLBT travel-related businesses.

The idea behind OutAdvisor was to create a site for the GLBT community that would: 1. provide a way for members of our own community to find and review GLBT owned/run/friendly businesses while they travel, and 2. promote GBLT travel-related businesses worldwide. We are a proud member of the International Gay and Lesbian Travel Association (IGLTA). In addition to helping our members to find places of interest while on travel, our goal is also to give back to our community: we donate 10% of our profits to GLBT-related charities. So, simply by using OutAdvisor and patronizing our advertisers and partners, our users can contribute to their own community!

Currently, Outadvisor.com has over 7,500 business listings and thousands of users (always free for both businesses and users).

Scott Shay
President and CEO

Scott has been an avid traveler all of his life and has lived and gone to school abroad, and lived all over the US. He has a BS in Finance and German from Pennsylvania State University, a Masters in Business Administration from the Pennsylvania State University, and a Master of Arts if Linguistics from the University of California, Berkeley. He is currently pursuing a PhD in linguistics. Scott has over 17 years of experience in the IT field, mainly concentrating on bringing new ideas to the Web as an entrepreneur. Among his favorite places to travel are Key West, Hawaii, San Francisco, New York City, Ft Lauderdale, and Europe. He plans to see China for the first time in 2009 and to visit Australia and New Zealand in 2010. Scott resides just outside the Nation's Capital in Arlington, VA. 

Marc Martinez
Chief Operating Officer

Born and raised in San Diego, CA, Marc now resides in Washington, DC.  Marc is an avid traveler. His favorite travel destinations include the Hawaiian Islands, Central America and Australia. Marc has done BS in Biology and Information Technology, and a Master’s of Science in Information Technology Management from Capella University. Marc has 11 years of management experience in the IT field.

Marc has been very dedicated to raising awareness and funds for HIV/AIDS services in Washington, DC and California. To date, Marc has participated in 15 AIDS Rides and has personally raised over $90,000.00 for AIDS charities (http://www.tofighthiv.org/goto/marc). Walking the talk is a very important trait that Marc likes to exercise.

Alexander Sun
Vice President of Administration

Alex is an avid world-wide traveler. He has a BS in Foreign Service from Georgetown University as well as a JD from Georgetown. A native of Florida, he has also lived in Taiwan and Beijing, China. Alex has over 11 years of experience as an attorney for various law firms in the Washington, DC area. Alex especially loves adventure travel and hates checking luggage. Alex resides in Arlington, VA.

Jeffrey Sturman
Vice President of Sales & Marketing

Jeff is a native of Buffalo, NY. His family has always done a lot of traveling, and they still meet every summer for a family camping trip. Jeff's favorite travel destinations feature beaches and snorkeling, Spanish-speaking cultures, and outdoor adventures. He has a bachelor's degree in Environmental Sciences from the University of Virginia and has ten years' experience analyzing and mapping environmental data, working with local governments, and applying technology solutions to environmental problems. He currently resides in the Washington, D.C. metro region.

Sylvia M. Mendoza
OA Data Specialist
Sylvia lives in Caloocan City, Philippines. She is primarily responsible for the OA database and its integrity and plays a key role in OA’s vast array of business offerings. Sylvia has a BS is Foods and Nutrition from the University of Santo Tomas (Manila, Philippines) and has experience in medical transcription and nutrition research.  Without a doubt, OA’s current and future success is due in part by Sylvia’s hard work and dedication to our company.
