Throughout late 2007 and 2009 I made five business trips to Johannesburg from New York totaling about three and a half months. During three of these trips I probably spent about seven weeks at Graton, and stayed at five other LGBT owned or accepting guest houses. Graton was the most comfortable reception of all, and turned me from a fan of "Business Traveler Hotels" like Southern Sun or the Mapungubwe down town, to an avid fan of Johannesburg's guest houses.

The accommodations are clean, comfortable, and most are on the large side, and the Guest House itself and common areas display Tony and Graham's eclectic take on South African art, culture, and theater. My favorite feature, as a shameful smoker, was the pool, which opens to the common area of the Guest House, and led to many fascinating conversations with the other guests.

The neighborhood, Norwood, is safe enough that I felt comfortable walking from the guest house to the restaurants about 10 minutes away. Amongst which, Picalo Primadona (sp?) is excellent. A strong dollar (it was then) led to some amazing meals and many bottles of wine. Nearby Melville is perhaps more night life oriented, but Norwood was perfect when working and a great place to start on the weekends.

Tony and Graham are a wealth of knowledge about the history of LGBT rights in South Africa, and Graham is a certified tour guide -- we had a great trip to a nearby Lion and Rhino park. Think of it as a safari via day trip.

I couldn't recommend Graton more highly.

If you are seeking a place to let it all hang out this is the place. A peaceful inn that offers nicely decored rooms in a home-like setting. You will feel like you are in your own backyard with pool and hot tub. A great weekend, holiday, vacation location. Guests chat with one another. Clothes or clothes free enjoyed by all. No day pass users here. Fast food and fine dining available nearby. Innkeeper, Tim, very personable and welcoming. My first choice stay in Phoenix. Plan to return again for more R&R.

This is THE best place to stay in Provincetown. It is in the best location, just a few doors down from Spiritus Pizza, right on Commercial St. The rates are among the lowest in town, and it has the most fun atmosphere. The Ranch has long had a "reputation" for being more cruisy, and it can be from time to time; it's what you make of it. It's also great partying here, where the front porch has a lively bunch of guys every night, even after the bars close. Though not technically a bathhouse, it can sometimes have the feel of one, as some guests leave their doors open looking for company or walking around nude, just don't be seen from the windows, otherwise everything goes at the Ranch. Shared bathrooms, though not fancy, are clean and well stocked with towels. There are a couple of fridges to keep your drinks and there is a clothing optional sundeck. The staff are always helpful and friendly, and join in the fun socializing with the guests. I go every year and wouldn't stay anywhere else. The rooms are small but they are comfortable enough and you are basically there just to keep your stuff, sleep and host company if you so incline. Low attitude crowd, and the clientele ranges in all types and ages. If you are looking for a quiet place or fancy accommodations, this is not the place for you. If you are looking to party and have a good time, are outgoing and looking to meet new friends, you will have a blast here.

The hosts were so kind and friendly to bring me down to Sitges to the beach.
I felt really welcome and the views from the house are amazing. My next visit to Europe is planned for next year and a short stop at Casa Rosa is for sure an option.
First of all the hosts are extremely friendly and knowledgeable about the area. The room, and the rest of the home, is immaculately clean and the bed was extremely comfortable. The bed and breakfast is close to Volcano Village, but also quiet and peaceful at all times. The hosts were kind enough to even contact the airline that lost one of our bags while we left to tour the area on our behalf, and then stayed up late to help give directions to the person delivering it to us. They really went above and beyond to make our stay an excellent one. Their two pets, a dog and cat, are adorable but they are outside pets so those who suffer from allergies need not worry. The hosts also offer massage services which is a wonderful way to end a day filled with hiking in nearby Volcano National Park. Those who are looking for a clothing optional place to stay on the big island of Hawaii should not miss this gem.

As it turned out, we couldn't have picked a better hotel than Pride Lodge, or one in a better location! Catering exclusively to the LGBT crowd, Pride Lodge, is situated in the heart of the gay venues of Blackpool, and is within easy walking distance, a mere few blocks, of a number of gay pubs, clubs, and saunas. Pride Lodge is also close to the heart of the vibrant Blackpool scene. A short stroll takes one down to the packed beach and "cruisy" promenade, or to a host of different restaurants and shops, and even Blackpool Tower, the "Eiffel Tower" of Northern England. Moreover, being so close to the train station in Blackpool makes it incredibly easy for LGBT travelers to get to Pride Lodge. One doesn't even need a taxi! So, if you are coming by car, just park it and forget it, as we did. You won't need it to get around if you stay at Pride Lodge!

The adorable and friendly proprietors, Keith and Tony, saw to our every need, I mean that! The room we had was of a good size, clean, pleasingly decorated, well appointed, and with an en suite bathroom. In fact, the room lacked for nothing. It had everything from flat screen television with built-in DVD player to ironing board and iron! Room service is provided and you can have delicious breakfasts and other excellent items cooked to perfection for you by Keith, who is an accomplished chef!

The best part, the price for all this, was truly a bargain! Compared to other hotels, guesthouses, and B&Bs in the UK, or anywhere else for that matter, Keith and Tony's Pride Lodge was a steal! They even have plans that include extra free nights! So, you get a lot of bang for your buck! You see, we originally picked Pride Lodge because of its reasonable prices and great location. We didn't know at the time it was also such a great place to stay!

What more can I say? If you are looking for a wonderful LGBT hotel that is centrally located for both the gay, as well as regular tourist venues of Blackpool, with clean, tastefully decorated, and well-appointed rooms, service that is superb, and all at a bargain price, Pride Lodge, with its handsome proprietors, Keith and Tony, is the place to go. I unreservedly recommend Pride Lodge to all! Seldom, if ever, have I stayed at such a marvelous place. And, I'll tell you this -- I'm going there again. Next trip to the UK, Pride Lodge, here I come! Keith and Tony, get ready, because I'll be back!
